SS-31  is a cell-permeable Szeto-Schiller tetrapeptide that selectively concentrates at the inner mitochondrial membrane and binds cardiolipin. In preclinical research it has been studied for stabilizing cristae architecture, preserving electron transport chain super-complex assembly, reducing mitochondrial reactive oxygen species, and restoring ATP synthesis in models of ischemia-reperfusion, heart failure, and age-related mitochondrial dysfunction.
